Bridgette O’Sullivan

We were very fortunate to have the lovely Bridgette O'Sullivan as our first guest speaker.
12 years ago Bridgette set a vision to create a successful wedding business with one red barn on their picturesque 500 acre dairy farm.

Today The Red Barn is one of Waikato’s most successful venues, hosting unique events from boutique weddings to business functions, farm tours and more recently degustation dining experiences showcasing local food and wine.

Bridgette took us through her journey of balancing family life with multiple business ventures - and how she has adapted The Red Barn business model in the advent of Covid19. Follow the link to find out more - www.redbarn.co.nz

What were our takeouts?

The committee came up with some things they gleaned from listening to Bridgette.

The importance of treating your staff like your family. Encourage and enable them to learn. Nurture them!

When one door closes another one opens. In times of difficulty. If you look and are open and creative you will find a solution that may turn out to be a whole new opportunity.

Get out of your comfort zone and get expert help if you are serious about growing your business. It brings some fresh ideas and perspective to your business.

Keep up open communications with your team, they are at the coal face of your business and have valuable input.

Listen to your whole team some of the best ideas and solutions can come from the quietest voices.

Business is about problem solving, if you can get creative and solve people’s problems, you're on to a winner.
